In an earlier entry (the one in which I reviewed TROY just after watching it in the theatre) I had mentioned that it was a movie in which Brad Pitt was not so Brad Pitty like, and that I did enjoy his acting in it. It was not the only movie in which I had enjoyed his role. Another movie, one which I had almost forgotten that he was in, is SLEEPERS a movie about 4 young boys that go to juvenial correction school in New York and are sexually molested & tortured by the guards in the school. The story is based mainly around how two of the boys, after they grow up (played by Billy Crudup & Ron Eldard) find the main tortured (played by Kevin Bacon) in a bar+diner a shoot him dead. Crudup & Eldard's characters are hoodlums but the other two (played by Pitt & Jason Patric) are a District Atorney & Jounalist respectivley. It's an excellent movie with an all-star cast rounded out with supporting roles by Robert DiNero, Dustin Hoffman & Minnie Driver.

The first semifinalists for the Champions League are now know - Chelsea FC & AC Milan. Although Chelsea had taken a 4-2 lead into the second leg, it wasn't sure that they could beat Bayern Munich at the German giants home ground. Infact, they lost to Bayern, but the margin of 3-2 was not enough to see the Germans through to the next round. Lampard scored the first goal which was matched by Claudio Pizzaro. Didier Drogba added a goal for Chelsea but Paolo Guerrero and an injury time lucky deflecter for Mehmet Scholl ensured the Bayern win. Chelsea proceeded to the semis with the 6-5 aggregate.
In Italy, the second leg between city rivals Inter & AC Milan had a tragic ending for the sport. Milan had won the first leg 2-0 and Shevechenko scored a goal last nite to make the aggregate 3-0 in their favour. Inter fans showed their anger & frustration as flares and bottles rained down into the Milan penalty area after Inter's Esteban Cambiasso had a header ruled out late on. The refree stopped the game for a while and led the players out again to try and continue the match. But the assholes in the crowd made sure that football lost last night but throwing flares again. Now Inter are likely to face severe sanctions – particularly as a flare hit Brazilian keeper Dida on the shoulder, missing his head by mere inches.
One of the NHL stars missing in the lineup for the Hockey World Championships to be held in Austria from April 30-May 15 is Tampa Bay Lightning's Vincent Lecavalier. Lecavalier played an integral role in the Stanley Cup playoff win for his team, and also in the World Cup that followed. Because of the NHL lockout, Vincent spent most of the time in his hometown of Ile Bizard, Quebec, a borough of Montreal located between the islands of Montreal and Laval, before signing with AK Bars Kazan in Russia.
The Tragically Hip,a band whose fans give them so much more dedication & affection that their chart success seem to suggest hail from Kingston, Ontario. They are a band that have their own rock n'roll sound, which one might label as Adult Oriented Rock. Among the songs that I have of theirs is , Problem Bears, a song that is about the Polar Bears of Churchill, Manitoba one of the prime locations to watch these magnificient creatures. The town is a tourist destination during the summer when the bears can be seen and the townfolk often have to live with a bear close by. They do the best they can to make sure that no bears or people are hurt in an encounter. The song is about a man who takes up the job of getting bears as far away as possible from people.
Song for the day - "Problem Bears" - THE TRAGICALLY HIP
