We have sunshine ladies & gentlemen! Sunshine after the rain, makes my soul, makes my soul ..... whatever is sung in that song. After two or three days of dark clouds hovering over the region, we finally have some clear skies & sun shinning. Imagine this morning after I managed to wake my hairy ass, brush my teeth, then get a cup of coffee and sat down to read the paper by 10:00 am, I had to switch the tubelight on to get enough light - it was that fucking dark! Sheesh, I like rain as it is the only respite we have from heat & humidity, but this is ridiculous.

What happened to Wrestler Lance Storm? He has completely dissappeared from the limelight as of lately. At one time, while the WCW was still a seperate business from the now huge WWE, Storm, held the U.S. Heavyweight Title (which he renamed the Canadian Heavyweight Title) the Hardcore title and the Cruiserweight strap (renamed the Saskatchewan Hardcore International Title and the One Hundred Kilos And Under Title by Storm). Back then the WCW was filled with excellent wrestler who either had a spat with the then WWF & Vince McMahon or had not yet been invited to join them. A solid worker for years in the Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion, he finally got into the limelight when he joined WCW. When WCW was bought by Shane McMahon, son of Vince), the company was integrated with the WWF into the new WWE. Sorm was WWE Intercontinental Championship & also held the World Tag Team Title on 4 occasions with three different partners. Storm was trained in the infamous Hart "dungeon" in Calgary, Alberta, Canada (also Storm's hometown). Lance Storm announced on his website in the first week of May, 2004, that after fourteen years, he’s retiring from in-ring competition. He brought up the fact that wrestling retirements are weird, but said for now he wanted to focus on other aspects of the business. He noted that he’d had his first match in Calgary at the Saddledome, and this past Sunday night on Heat he had his final match in that same building, putting over Stevie Richards. He said part of the reason for making the decision was that he hadn’t been happy with his career over the last year or so, and recently he’d started talking with David Finley about possibly become a road agent. The office wasn’t too hot on the idea, and he figures it was because they didn’t think it was a long enough transition time between being a guy in the locker room and an "office" person. The other reason for him hanging up the boots was that he was hurting really bad. "I’ve mentioned my back troubles to you in the past and I have always played down the pain and discomfort I am in," he wrote. "The truth is my back has been quite bad and it was making my decision much easier. I have 4 bulging discs in my lower lumbar and a chronic problem with my sciatic nerve. It has gotten to the point where there a certain bumps I won’t take and I am limping and in great pain after most matches, I have even had my legs go numb on me on a few occasions. It is a condition that with proper time off and rehab I could likely work through, but with the way everything else was going I started to look at alternatives, like the agent job." The office did offer him a job as a trainer for Ohio Valley, which he accepted. He started May 2nd. "Teaching was another avenue I’ve thought about for when I’m done wrestling. I was predominately working with guys recently brought up from OVW anyway, and this was a chance to get at them even earlier and maybe even make a difference." He said he planned to keep his Stormwrestling.com website up and write a bunch of "Looking Back" columns in the next few weeks. He also appeared on Byte This and told basically the same story. At the end, he was asked what kind of advice he’d give to young guys who wanted to break into the business. He advised them to keep their ears open and their mouths shut.
