A native of St. Paul's, Ontario, the big centre idolized Mike Craig growing up. Mark Bell made his mark during four seasons with the Ottawa 67s, and was part of a Memorial Cup championship in 1998-99. A bronze medalist with Team Canada at the 2000 World Junior championship, Bell was thrilled to become the first choice, eighth overall selection of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. After four seasons in the OHL, Bell jumped to the pro ranks in 2000-2001, playing with the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL as well as 13 games with the Hawks. Born August 5, 1980, Bell became a full-time Hawk in 2001-2002 and has become one of the club's more durable and reliable players.



Mark is single … He spends his summers in St. Paul's, Ontario … He enjoys playing golf and listening to music … His favorite magazine is Rolling Stone … His favorite hockey player growing up was Mike Craig.2004-05: Played in 25 regular season games with Trondheim IK (Norway), registering 27 points (10-17-27), a plus-5 rating and 87 penalty minutes...Played in 11 playoff games with Trondheim IK, recording 12 points (6-6-12), a plus-2 rating and 44 penalty minutes. 2003-04: Ranked third on the team in scoring with 45 points and in assists with 24…Tied for third on the team in goals with 21 (Kyle Calder also had 21)…His offensive totals were all new career highs…Was one of four Blackhawks to play in all 82 games (Tyler Arnason, Tuomo Ruutu, and Travis Moen were the others)…Reached the 20-goal plateau for the first time in his career vs. Carolina on March 17th…Scored the game-winner in overtime vs. Detroit on Dec. 11th…Scored two power play goals and had one game-winning goal…Played in his 200th career game on November 29th at Los Angeles…Scored a pair of goals on Jan. 11th vs. Colorado, tying his career-high for most goals in a game…Scored a goal while adding two assists with a plus-3 rating on Feb. 3rd in Toronto in a 4-1 win…Was fifth on the team in power play points with 11 (2-9-11)…Was third on the team in shots with 202.
