Saturday was my cousin Rakesh's wedding in Guruvayur next to the temple. I have only been there a couple of times when I was much younger and being an atheist, I have not gone there since. This time I tagged along, just to see Rakesh get hitched. Let me tell u that I am not saying this as a non-believer in all things godly (I refuse to give this non-existant thing anymore leverage by giving it a capital G) - but Guruvayur is fucking filthy! It reminded me of a town market. Also with elephant dung & urine splattered near the places where the wedding ceremonies were held, it gave off a smell like no other. I felt faint and it didn't help that there were huge crowds of people packed around me to see their people get married. I left before the actual ceremony of my cousin and watched from a much cleaner and less crowded spot. Remind me never to go there again.
From this entry onwards I shall have a "Song for the day". In honour of Rakesh & Sreedevi getting married the song shall be - "Heaven" by Bryan Adams.
