Fernando Pisani was born December 27, 1976 in Edmonton, Alberta. The 9th choice, 195th overall selection of the Edmonton Oilers in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Pisani spent four years at Providence College before making his professional debut in 2000-01. In his four years at Providence the Edmonton, Alberta native tallied 56 goals and 97 assists for 153 points in 147 games played. Following a successful collegiate career, Pisani joined Edmonton's AHL affiliate in Hamilton for the 2000-01 season and finished his rookie campaign with 12 goals and 25 points before more than doubling his offensive totals in each category. Pisani went on to finish fourth in team scoring with 26 goals, 34 assists for 60 points, before making his NHL debut with the Oilers the following year.
In 2002-03, Pisani split his season with Hamilton and Edmonton where in 35 games with the parent club he registered 13 points, before playing his first full season with the Oilers in 2003-04. Pisani made the Oilers out of training camp the next year, and wound up scoring 16 goals in 76 games as a checker. He played in both Switzerland and Italy during the NHL lockout.
