Premiership club Arsenal are reportedly closing in on Real Madrid's Guti - but the Gunners are likely to face stiff competition from Serie A giants Juventus and AC Milan. The 28-year-old midfielder is rated at £13 million and has previously been linked with a move to Liverpool. But he apparently expressed interest in joining the North London club. "After Real Madrid, his only desire if he was to move to England, would be to play for Arsenal," said his agent Zoran Vekic. "He likes their style, team spirit and, of course, they have a great coach." Guti has become somewhat marginalized at the Bernabeu after 10 years with Real and looks set for a summer move abroad. He came close to joining Arsene Wenger’s side for £11 million two years ago but had a change of heart at the eleventh hour and decided to stay on at Madrid. Arsenal may be reluctant to meet Real’s current valuation for the player and will probably try to negotiate any potential fee down to below £10 million.

Newcastle are reportedly in talks with Real Madrid winger Luis Figo. The Portuguese star looks set to leave the Bernabeu this summer, even though he has 12 months left to run on his contract. After a disappointing season it is unlikely Figo would be in Wanderley Luxemburgo’s first-team plans and a move to England looks the most likely option for the former Barcelona player, Liverpool, Tottenham and Bolton have previously been linked with Figo. Birmingham boss Steve Bruce has admitted his club remain a "million miles apart" from Deportivo's valuation of striker Walter Pandiani. The Uruguayan striker joined the Blues on loan in February and scored four goals in 14 matches. The 29-year-old is valued at around £4m by his Spanish club, however, Birmingham don't believed they should pay more than the £3m paid to Chelsea for Mikael Forssell, who is five years younger. Bruce told the Press Association: "It is fair to say that both respective clubs have been in discussions and it is fair to say that we are a million miles apart in our valuations. If they are realistic, then fine. "When you see the price Deportivo want for Pandiani and the price we’ve got Mikael in for, then that puts it in perspective as far as we are concerned. Mikael is 24. "But I’ve said umpteen times that you are only ever as good as your strikers and if they are good, then you’ve got a very good chance so you collect them if you can. You’ve got to keep them all happy and the Pandiani thing is not dead yet. "If you want to get bigger and better, you need a big squad especially with the transfer window. You can bet that we will have one or two injuries and the stronger the squad is, the better you can cope with it."

Aston Villa are the favourites to sign Southampton striker Kevin Phillips. The Sun are reporting that David O’Leary’s club are close to putting the seal on a £1 million deal for the former Sunderland striker. Phillips would surely relish a return to the Premiership after being relegated with Saints last month. Villa are also being linked with a move for Newcastle’s Lee Bowyer. Udinese defender Per Kroldrup says the idea of moving to Everton is an attractive one. The two clubs have agreed a fee for the Danish international, with the player set to discuss permanent terms in the coming days. "The club appeals to me and The Premiership would be an interesting place to play," he said. "They have just qualified for the Champions League and seem to be very ambitious. "I will have to wait and see what happens." Tore Andre Flo is close to a move to Malaga, reports Goal.com’s Spanish edition. The Norwegian veteran striker is available on a free after two positive seasons with Serie A outfit Siena. After playing in the Premiership and Italy, Flo would be extremely open to close his career in Europe’s other major championship, the Spanish Liga. Malaga are in need of strikers, as Fernando Baiano is very injury prone, while former Udinese star Marcio Amoroso returned to Brazil where he will play with giants Sao Paulo.

Gelinas, Jimmy Carson and three first-round draft picks went to the Edmonton Oilers for a package centered around Wayne Gretzky. Gelinas won a Stanley Cup with the Oilers in 1990, when he notched 25 points in 40 regular-season games and five points in 20 Stanley Cup Playoff games. The Oilers traded Gelinas to the Quebec Nordiques in 1993, and he landed with the Vancouver Canucks off waivers a year later. That proved to be a steal, as Gelinas posted 68 points (35 goals, 33 assists) for the Canucks in 1996-97. Vancouver traded Gelinas to the Carolina Hurricanes as part of a five-player deal in 1998. There, the winger helped lead the club to the 2002 Stanley Cup Finals, notching seven points in 23 playoff games. He signed with Calgary as a free agent after the 2002 playoffs.



As a big wrestling fan (I have been watching it since before I could crawl or talk) I often search the net for information & pics of wrestlers both famous & obscure. I was born in Kuwait & raised till 11 in that wrestling crazy country. One such wrestler that I came to admire in his brief tenure in WCW (although this is more recently in India) is El Vampiro. I feel that his image & looks were very cool & it's a shame that he never graduated to WWE & became a huge star.


His real name is Ian Hodgkinson and he is from Thunder Bay, Ontario, born May 30, 1967. At 6'2" - 255 lbs he was trained by Abdullah the Butcher & his trademark finishing move was the Nail in the Coffin. He made his name in Mexico by winning the UWA World Heavyweight title, the FLL Heavyweight title & JCW (Juggalo Championship Wrestling) Heavyweight title before moving to WCW. His only title there was the WCW World Tag Team titles w/The Great Muta. Despite a good start, things did not work out for the former Major Junior league hockey goalie & he moved back to Mexico where is considered a legend. El Vampiro is also a music fan & after quiting junior hockey, he initially tried out to be a rock star in Los Angeles, Montreal & Toronto. In WCW he hocked up with rap-metal Wrestler the Insane Clown Posse & metal band The Misfits. Infact for awhile Mistfits bassist Jerry Only, an avid wrestling fan, added Vampiro as the rythymn guitarist in the band.
