Marty Jannetty is a name from the archives of the WWE formerly the WWF. He was at one time the tag-team partner of Shawn Michaels and they, as the Midnite Rockers, were once formdibale tag-team champions. There was a show of rivalry between these two with Michaels eventually becoming the Inter-continental & then World Heavyweight Champion on numerous occasions and then becoming an icon. Marty, though once had a rivalry with Shawn even becoming the Inter-continental champion at his former partner's expense, faded away.

I got to see Marty Jannetty in the flesh at a promo held at Music World near Shenoy's Theatre back in 1999. He was by then part of the NWA or AWA or some lower league. The promo said WWF wrestling stars were to have a show in Kochi but it wasn't the WWF now the WWE. I didn't recognise any of the other wrestlers as they walked in to the music of "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. I recognised Marty in a few seconds, held my hand out. He slapped me a low-five, wrapped his big hands over my right hand in a clasp and shook it "hello". I was remembering watching him all those years on tv & tape as one half of the midnite rockers. The reason I remembered him is that I was reading today in WWE.com that both him and Jake 'The Snake' Roberts are scheduled to make an appearance on RAW!

I bought the first & third released albums by Jesse Cook, completing the collection of this wonderfully talented rumbo-flamenco guitarist. The debut CD TEMPEST shows that he was just coming into the groove. Although he was 29 then, his music had been on many tv shows & programs but this was the first time he was creating an album. I must say that this is the weakest of his 5 but that's the way it should be. The 1998 released VERTIGO is truly excellent and showcases an artist who is on the way to becoming one of the best loved acoustic instrumentalists of the world. It's from this album that today's song for the day is selected.
