Inter’s Patron, Massimo Moratti, admitted that the negotiations with Real Madrid to bring Luis Figo and Samuel to Italy are at a very good point. “The two negotiations might be concluded by tonight, but they might still go on. The negotiations for Figo and Samuel are two separate ones. If it was known from beforehand how they would end, there would be no negotiation at all,” declared Moratti. Inter are expected to sign Figo on a definite contract whilst Samuel would join the Nerazzurri on loan with a purchase option for the end of the season.

Edgar Davids is set join Tottenham Hotspur from Internazionale on a free transfer, subject to a medical and agreeing personal terms. "He is one of the most versatile midfielders, a playmaker, a ball-winner with great stamina and huge charisma," said Spurs head coach Martin Jol. "It’s terrific that he is joining us. He will lift the team’s performance." Davids, 32, has 73 caps for the Netherlands and has also played for Ajax, AC Milan, Juventus and Barcelona. Jol added: "We have a young squad with an average age of 23 and I believe Edgar will come in and lead by example. "This is a player who went to Barcelona when they were middle of the league and took them close to winning the title." Davids joined Barcelona on loan in January 2004 and helped them put together a successful run that saw them finishing second to Valencia in La Liga. However, he was unable to agree a deal with Barca and returned to Juventus last summer, before moving on to Inter on a free transfer. But he found himself something of a peripheral figure at Inter, only occasionally playing in the first team. And now he is poised to move to White Hart Lane in North London. He began his career with Ajax, winning the Uefa Cup in 1992 and the Dutch title in 1994, 1995 and 1996. Then he had a stint with AC Milan from August 1996 until December 1997, when he joined Juventus, where he won three Serie A titles - in 1998, 2002 and 2003 - and reached three Champions League finals. Davids was also in the Dutch team that reached the 1998 World Cup semi-finals and the last four of Euro 2000 and Euro 2004.
