The Champions League Quaterfinals are underway. Two good matches last nite with a rampant Liverpool really giving Juventus a scare & a good enough draw between PSV Eindhoven & Lyon. Lyon started the match dominating the flow of movement, creating good shooting options for their attackers, Slyvain Wiltord & co. They seemed unlucky not to have gone 2 up in the first half and had to content with the lone goal scored by Maloundo. However in the second half, PSV's normal resistence paid off and they got more & more into the game with Philip Cocu, Jan Venegoor & Marc Van Bommel (who is roumured to be going to Barcelona next season). Cocu scored a wonderful goal after a solo run through the Lyon defence to tie the game and set it up for PSV to win this round in their home leg.

In the other match, an excited & determined Liverpool warmed the hearts of their hometown fans by running the Juventus team ragged. Former captain Sami Hyypia scored a lovely goal early in the first half. Then Spanish international Garcia also scored to take Liverpool to the locker room at half time with a 2-0 lead. That lead was cut short to one by Fabio Cannavaro, the Italian defender who joined Juventus from Lazio. Also in this match Allesandro Del Piero was not in his usual creative form and was substituted by French striker David Tresegeut. It will be interesting to see what the two teams do in Turin next week.
