Goodbye Southampton. We will miss you.

Despite some good players in their squad, Southampton finished last in the English Premiership this season, meaning instant relegation to the first division, following a 2-1 loss at home to Manchester United. This also means some of their players will leave during the off-season and a lowering of wages. The followers of the Saints were left disraught when Rudd Van Nistelrooy scored in the second half to kill any chance of Southampton finishing 16th. Players like Finnish goalie Anti Neimi, Andreas Jacobsson, Grame Le Saux, Claus Lundekvam, Peter Crouch, Kevin Philips, Jaime Rednapp & Anders Svensson will surely move on to other clubs - with several of them joining one among the 3 sides that have been promoted to join the ELP for next season or maybe clubs that hover around the relegation zone like Westbrom, Portsmouth & Blackburn.

Time to profile another hockey player; this time it's Simon Gagne, who plays for the Philadelphia Flyers. The left winger, who wears #12 & shoots left was born Feb 29, 1980 in Ste Foy, Quebec, Canada (a suburb of Quebec City). The 22nd overall pick by the Philadelphia Flyers at the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Gagne developed into one of the League's top offensive players, with a penchant for scoring big goals. In his rookie campaign in 1999-2000, the forward tallied 48 points (20 goals, 28 assists) in 80 games. In his first postseason action, Gagne scored a game-winning goal against the Buffalo Sabres on April 13, 2000. He upped his point production by 11 in his second season and netted seven game-winners in 2000-01. The winger won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.
